2008 Meetings & Workshops

March 12 - Michael Duncan spoke about writing for a cause. Using books to promote varous causes, he has sold more than $1 million worth of books to help various causes.

February - Our annual open mic night, with readings from members and others.

February 2 - Workshop - Jan Drabek discussed various approaches to writing memoirs.

January - Jan Drabek talked about his experiences as the Czech ambassador to Kenya and Albania. He has 16 published books, including several novels and memoirs.

2007 Meetings & Workshops

December - Annual dinner for members & guests only, plus another successful silent auction.

November - Branch AGM, followed by Spider Robinson reading from his latest book.

October - Miranda Pearson talked about poetry and read from her award-winning book.

September - Lisa Manfield spoke about the role of literary journals in building a writing career.

June - a barbeque for members and their guests was hosted by Anthony & Penny Dalton.

During the year, CAA also had tables at various events to promote CAA, handing out flyers and displaying (and selling) books by our members. Events included the World Poetry Gala at VPL in February and the annual Summer Dream Festival in July, Vancouver's Word on the Street in September, and the Surrey International Writers Conference in October. Several CAA authors also read at events hosted by the Cornerstone Cafe in October.
